Somali American Coalition Action Fund is a Non Profit organization that works to address social, economic and political inequalities for the Somali Community in Minnesota. Our main objective is to promote equal access to opportunities and resources for the Somali American Community living in Minnesota.
We engage in direct services by providing resources and support to individuals with our community who may have been affected by the lack of available resources in public sector. We also, engage in advocacy and public policy work through lobbying for changes to laws and policies that perpetuate inequality and discrimination. We also dedicate ourselves to raise public awareness and educate our community about the root causes and impacts that directly affect their lives.
By establishing ourselves as a grassroots organization that promotes democracy, racial, social, and economic justice for our community, our aim is to build a diverse coalition of power for the Somali community of MN.
We will value our faith, our culture and the well-being of our people, defined by individuals and communities for themselves. We plan to organize and mobilize people to take action to influence social and political issues. At the local, regional and national level, grassroots movements are considered to be bottom-up, rather than top-down efforts.
